Quiet
Sitting in this stone house it is quiet.
I am safe.
I am dry.
I am full.
I am quiet.
Among the trees,
birds sang,
leaves fluttered,
it was not quiet.
There I could be cold, wet, and hungry.
Yet I was the forest.
Who are you in the quiet?

Background: When the first elders of the indigenous people of the forest came to Etonia, interviews were conducted to understand what was happening in the forest. Families were coming out of the forest at a growing pace. They reported family members were disappearing, that something was hunting them. Yet still, transition to life in the town was difficult for them, they resisted assistance and housing.
Scribe Belamy wrote out this series of comments made by Grandma Nuray during her 3rd interview after arrival. We were surprised to catch a glimse of an old philosophy that had remained obscured to that point. A new reason dawned on us, at that moment, as to why the transition was difficult. That is what motivated him to write down what she said.
