Etonia Guard

This military force is responsible for protecting the city of Etonia from external threats. Much of the guard leadership are veterans of the Rose War and came to Etonia with the council. The force is comprised of four parts:
- Etonia City Watch
- The Elite Guard
- Expeditionary Forces
- Etonia Wizard Network
The city watch mans the walls, the dock checkpoint, and patrols the farmland surrounding the city. The elite guard act as a higly mobile force and are elite fighters used for protecting the council and dignitaries. The expeditionary forces are stationed in the settlements around Etonia and help extend the influence of the council. Occassionally, expeditionary forces are assigned scouting, retrieval, or raiding missions. The wizard network provides support to the city guard or expeditionary forces in times of crisis. All magic users in the city are registered with the wizard network and may be called upon during a crisis.
Structure
The Guard take their orders from the Etonia Council. Each unit is led by a captain and three to six lieutenant. The head of the City Watch also sits in on council meetings but does not have a vote.
Culture
The force is not expansionary in nature. Training is a key focus of the day of a guard member. Different units are trained with heavy weapons and armor as well as stealth and recon techniques. All current threats have been countered with better equipment and cohesive training. Veterans are expected to help in their community after service and receive a small pension. Injuries are treated at no cost by the community hospital run by the Church of the Silver Dragon. Applications for the guard are typically plentiful and selection can be competitive but new guards are needed every year as the job is demanding. Officers and the Council members can hand select recruits in addition to the standard application process.
