Heraklion in Eras

Dragonkind Era

Continent of Heraklion is older than 50 000 years. Before any humanoid walk on the land of Heraklion, there was kingdom of dragons. Not even academics know much about this era of the world. However, something changed around year -20 000 DR. Dragons went almost extinct and because rare species almost as much as we know them today. Finding dragon is not daily experience but you can still find them at mountains or distant areas.

First People

Race of humanoids known as First People appeared shortly after. There are dozens of legends about their origin, some claiming interferance of gods and some claim they were travellers from distant lands. This era also ended in mystery and no evidence was ever found what exactly happened. All we know it is, they dissapeared overnight around -5 000 FP.

Era of Heraklion

This era starts at year -5 000 in HE. This is the beginning of great empire named Heraklion, empire of slavery and Yuan-Ti dominance. This era lasted for almost 5 000 years. Even Heraklion crumbled at - 1648 HE, it's era continues to the year 0 as most of the influence of Yuan-Ti persisted for over another two thousand years.

Origin of Heraklion

Heraklion was founded around - 5 000 HE. It was founded by Sukhi, which was later called Emperor Sukhi I. He claimed that his power is divine and he is blessed by Sseth himself to rule this land for any predictable future and shall bring rise to the race of Yuan-Ti as supreme race and all other races shall serve them.

Yuan-Ti were at this moment most dominant race on the continent so war has begun. Orcs came first as their tribal nature was easiest to dominate. Then Yuan-Ti used their new slaves as new army and with the help of magic dominated the rest of races.

Last came Dwarfs, as their dominant fortresses in the mountains were challenging even for such dominant numbers Yuan-Ti had. However Yuan-Ti were able to trick Duergar who are similar do Dwarfs to help them breach Dwarven fortresses and even they fallen. Duergars were promised freedom, however that never happened.

At their peak of strength and dominance Yuan-Ti even conquered part of Upper-dark. However they were never able to penetrate to lower layers of Underdark due to heavy losses against beasts lurking there.

Advancements

Yuan-Ti were very component in magic and helped Heraklion to discover new parts of magic and transfer understanding of Weave into schools of magic as we know them now. This understanding helped all spellcasters better understand its potential and increased the numbers of spellcaster across the entire continent. However Yuan-Ti kept this for really long time just for themself. They were very strict about who is allowed to use magic.

Architecture

During the Era of Heraklion most of dominant structures were build across the continent. Few buildings were preserved from Era of First People, but they are really rare and mostly misunderstanded.

Most large temples used today are still build on foundations of Yuan-Ti architecture and at distant lands and swamps is still possible to find temples and sacrifitual sites that Yuan-Ti once used as they had special type of material called Snake Stone. This technology is however lost. Snake Stone is material that never ages and still keeps its attributes even after 5 000 years. Snake Stone was white as snow, however it decreased in color to green and grey.

Nature

As Yuan-Ti are originating from jungles, they kept most of the forestation across the continent intact. Today we can still find that most of Heraklion is still full of forests, jungles and it is quite hard to find large locations without any trees.

Soulmonger

In year 298 SE great arch-lich Acererak managed to ressurect dead god Atropal, who drained souls of those who escaped death. Anyone who returned from the dead, was feeling how his own life force is escaping. This devilish abomination was 'alive' for almost a year, but then finally in the deep jungle of Chult, group of adventurers was able to find and destroy it.

Even though, Atropal is already destroyed, this year killed almost half a milion people on the continent and greatly reduced amount of adventurers.

Also, many legends speak of items that adventurers brought from lich's lair. Someone says they were locked in safe spaces, but some say that they were lost and evil entities are free to claim them.

Deathknight Xeakaroth

Legend has it that one adventurer named Grumm claimed mythical sword named Tear of the Golden Dragon. This mythical sword was crafted from one of the largest dragons that have ever lived. Dragon's name is long forgotten.

Grumm completely lost his mind after claiming the sword, it is said the last effort to stop him falling to corruption was angelic power, however, Grumm murdered this angel and walked away, to not be seen until after decade later.

When he started to be active again, he was known as Xeakaroth. He claimed a fortress in the Cursed Mountains and started to attack civilians to add them to his own undead army. However, those same adventurers, who were once Grumm's party accepted quest to slay Xeakaroth. Later they found out, it is their old friend, however he was changed beyond recognition and slain. His sword was never found.

Attack on Al'takar

Unknown group of adventurer attacked capital city of Al'takar overnight. This event was seen across large wastes due to large meteors falling on the capital city.

City was destroyed and after few years Al'takar was left in ruins. Currently this entire kingdom is anarchy-based controlled with smaller fractions.

This group was later known as Black Rebelion. Their goal is unknown, but few information are already known.

One of them is Ruby, all information about her are that she is a powerful mage.

Second is Araost, leonin. He is known as ,,King of Storm and Thunder", and should be powerful lightning user.

Third is unknown warrior and unnamed tortle.

Alu'ivar

Most recent even called Alu'ivar created large object of light above the middle of continent. It's origin is not exactly known. However it appeared right before major attack of Republic of Embernam to Numeria, so there is multiple theories of its artificial origin.

All spellcasters noticed Alu'ivar at its creation and during its early years of existence mostly as negative. It affected everyone slightly different. Not even a decade after Alu'ivar firstly appeared, its powers completetly shifted into its today's form. Bringing old legends into our current times, where Weave is in almost everyone.

Mesiophestos

Mesiophestos, also known as Mesipo, was ancient devil from the 5th layer of Hell. First time he appeared on Heraklion was 309 Sentia. Mesipo corrupted multiple fractions in the south of Aldur and tried to open portal to Nine Hell itself, creating 10th layer just for himself to be named archdevil. This plan was later interrupted by party of adventurers known as Moonlight Torch. After this initial interruption, he quickly gain back his strength and attempted again, this time he was locked in Shadowfell and given its own Dread Plane, named as 7th Dread Lord and as his Watcher was one of the adventurers, known as Delru Kandus.

This event also caused many races to migrate to Aldur in believe of opportunity. Kingdom of Aldur was broken into hundreds of smaller pieces with no single ruler.

Fall of Numeria

In 309 SE,  Republic of Embernam started large scale invasion to Kingdom of Numeria. Numeria, kingdom of wizards with ongoing Alu'ivar stand no chance. Most of their mages had trouble to use magic for daily problems, they had nothing to do against anti-mage army.

In year 310 SE Numeria's capital city Aerilon fallen to the hands of Army of the Republic. The same year Numeria was connected to the Embernam, splitted into several Elects and assigned new rules.

There is still several organization and individuals who want to return Numeria to its former glory, but they are in no strength to fight entire Embernam, yet. It is known that all of the most powerful mages of Numeria managed to escape, except one who died. This one was replaced by adventurer who played a part in beating Mesiophestos from Aldur.
