Magnus
The dual worlds of Warcroft and Bloodhelm hosted almost a billion people between the two of them. It had half the population as Harbinger’s Junction, but rare for a major system in the Commonwealth, or the Settle Worlds of Mann it boasted no large space station, star fortress, or other mann made object. There were small stations which floated in low orbit and helped control traffic coming in and out of the system, but that was it.
The ‘Greymark’ was making a quick stop within the system to take on supplies, and update it’s databanks, and star charts with the latest intelligence. Information some around the Commonwealth during their short trip from Harbinger’s Junction, and even messages from Commonwealth Forces and other sources.
Magnus aimed his standard issued side arm at his target on the firing range. He had hoped, like Richard Vault, that their layover in the Warcroft System would mean real flying time in the cockpits of their starfighters instead of simulations. It wasn’t the same.
Major Oldseal though didn’t give them much time in the simulated pods. He gave them some time, but most their shifts consists of combat drills, or simple fatigues drills. Magnus hated running the corridors of the ‘Greymark’, but he didn’t mind the firing range.
The firing range was almost peaceful for him. It was loud, even with the ear muffs, but he didn’t have to talk, he could focus on his target, and breathing, and those on his right, and left were just as focused as himself.
Magnus finished his clip before he holstered his side arm, and than moved to the back of the range as another member moved in to take his turn, and Magnus studied his work.
“Not bad,” Lydia said to him.
“Yeah but if you ever have to use that skill, your pretty much fucked anyways,” Richard said before Magnus could speak.
“Least I would take a few down with me,” Magnus said in agreement.
“Besides, you might not always find yourself under attack while in the cockpit,” Edwyn Gisking said as he moved in next to them.
“Jeez, eagle eyed with the pistol as well as the cockpit,” Lydia said to Edwyn and gave him a small shove. “Nice job.”
Edwyn rubbed the back of his head. “Thanks.”
“How was yours?” Magnus asked Lydia.
Lydia smiled a lop sided smile, and showed her target.
“Damn,” Magnus said with a smile. “High marks. Remind me to stay close to you if we ever get into trouble.”
“I’ll take care of you kid,” Lydia said with a grin.
“Your quiet for a change,” Edwyn said to Richard. “Let see your.”
Richard let out a sigh, and produced his target, and Lydia laughed. “Nevermind. You stay close to me Rich, I’ll keep you safe,” she told him and put a arm around his shoulder.
“Thanks,” Richard said with a loud sigh. “My brothers are the grunts. Lets just get back in the cockpits already,” he complained, and Magnus looked at Edwyn and Lydia with a grin before they all laughed at Rich.
